Dr. Burgess just returned from a cleft lip and palate mission in the Philippines with Clawson Medical Missions. Free surgical care was delivered to 50 children and young adults with the assistance of the Gift of Life Organization and Rotary. One young, 23 year old woman just wanted her speech to be improved after palate repair so that she could get a job. Other children just wanted to be able to go to school, since some affected children are not allowed to go to school by their families. Either way, the parents and children were really happy to see us back again this year but I think our surgical team missed them the most.
