BIOCORNEUM®
Dr. Burgess offers bioCorneum®+ as a means to minimize scars following surgery and help flatten and shrink existing scars through silicone treatment. The silicone sheet serves as a protective barrier that is waterproof, breathable, and flexible. It is the only FDA approved silicone scar treatment that contains SPF to further protect against hyperpigmentation and increased erythema.
PREVENA™
Prevena™ is an incision management system that is used on closed surgical incisions that continue to drain. The negative pressure wound therapy works by removing fluid via the application and compressing the incision. Other benefits include protecting the incision site from external infectious sources and holding incision edges together. This is an added option that might be offered for your surgery and will be discussed during a consultation.
