How Often Do I Need a Facial?

Professional facials address specific skin concerns to provide a vibrant, youthful glow. Whether you struggle with acne, dry skin, sensitive skin, or aging skin, there is a customized facial for you. In fact, at Burgess Plastic Surgery, we consider professional facials to be an important part of an overall skincare routine. So how often should you get a facial?

The answer depends on several factors:

  • What you want to accomplish with the facial (clearing up acne, maintaining a youthful appearance, general skin maintenance, etc.)
  • Whether you have sensitive skin
  • How often your time and budget allows for facials

One of the great things about professional facials is that they are gentle enough to perform routinely, but they are also capable of achieving much more than you can achieve with an at-home, DIY facial. Ideally, professional facials are repeated every 4 weeks, or once per month. Your skin cells replace themselves about every 28 days, so timing your facials with this turnover cycle is a great way to clean and refresh these skin cells. If you have very sensitive skin, you may find that a treatment every month is too often. You may want to wait a couple of months in between sessions, or scale back to a few times per year. In fact, many people decide to have a professional facial with each new season. It’s a good way to address how the weather changes our skin’s condition (i.e. greater dryness or humidity in the air, intense summer sun exposure, cold and dry winter air) and often is the perfect fit for budgets and busy schedules.

You may find your preferences for facials change as you age. When you are younger, your skin repairs itself quickly, and is full of youthful collagen and elastin. As you grow older, these youthful qualities naturally fade, and you may opt for professional facials more often so that you can maintain a healthy, vibrant, supple facial appearance.

At Burgess Plastic Surgery we offer a variety of HydraFacial’s and custom facials, with many add on features.

HydraFacial:

HydraFacial treatments, which use a unique patented Vortex-fusion technology, take your facial to the next level. The Signature HydraFacial consists of 3 steps using their ‘super serums’, but you can upgrade to a Deluxe or Platinum HydraFacial to add enhancements like serum boosters, LED lights or lymphatic drainage for the ultimate experience. hydrafacial woman

Serum Boosters:

Brightalive: Evens skin tone, reduces appearance of brown spots, and restores hydration.

Britenol: Brightens and balances skin tone while minimizing the appearance of dark spots and sunspots.

Dermabuilder: Helps smooth the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles as well as enhances skin elasticity.

Regen GF: Designed to diminish appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, boost collagen, and remove toxins and irritants.

Protec Plus: Protects skin from free radical damage, reduce signs of redness, and provides optimal hydration.

Rozatrol: Helps relieve the visible signs of red skin, detoxifies skin, and replenishes skins hydration.

Custom Facial:

The custom facial is a personalized treatment that is designed to fit your specific skincare needs. Our Aesthetician will analyze your skin and choose the facial that is right for you and your skin type. To elevate your custom facial experience, you can add one of the listed treatments.

Extractions:

While you might be getting impatient about that pesky black head, extracting your own black or whiteheads could create a bigger problem for you. When you attempt to extract a pimple yourself, you may be introducing new bacteria into the skin or risk acne scars.

Dermaplaning:

Dermaplaning helps to remove the outer layers of dead skin cells and fine hairs. Dead skin cells can contribute to acne breakouts and oily skin. By removing these and the fine hairs, the skin will be able to breathe. This can boost collagen levels, decrease breakouts, and assist in healthier skin overall.

Microderm Scrub Facial:

This micro-crystal scrub cream is designed to treat problem areas such as fine lines and wrinkles, mild acne, blotches, and small scars. The Microderm Scrub smooths wrinkles, roughness, and acne scars. This treatment can also be added on to any chemical peel our office offers.
