What is Dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning is a chemical-free exfoliation, that uses a surgical-grade blade to scrape over your skin’s surface and gently removes the dead skin cells as well as the fine, Vellus facial hair. This leaves the skin ultra-smooth, fresh and glowing. Plus, when you apply your skincare afterwards, you’ll find it goes on as smoothly as silk.
What to expect?
There is no oil or cream used during the treatment, so the blade can feel dry and scratchy. Patients skin can be red for up to 24 hours post treatment. Patients can combine Dermaplaning with multiple treatments offered in our office such as our various chemical peels, facials, Microneedling, and HydraFacial. Dermaplaning is recommended one-week post laser treatments, such as Clear+ Brilliant, Limelight (IPL), SmartSkin CO2, and the Cutera Secret RF. Dermaplaning has benefits as a stand-alone treatment. This treatment can be provided once a month for chemical- free exfoliation.
Does the hair grow back thicker?
This is often the most asked question with this treatment -The Vellus hair will not grow back thicker from this treatment. Only changes to your hormones can cause difference in the growth to vellus hair.
