Many patients struggle with the appearance of crêpey or sagging eyes. While some amount of puffiness or sagging may be normal for a given individual, factors such as age and fatigue may make the swelling more prominent. Eyes are often the first feature people notice when they look in the mirror and often the first feature to lose its youthful appearance, making patients look more tired and older than they actually are. The periorbital area, or the area around the eyes, responds best when layered with our treatments.
While any one of our treatments will offer positive results, the layering of procedures can be even more dramatic. For example, a patient could start with brow Ultherapy® and Thermi® eyes to tighten and lift the skin around the eye, then add a Madonna Lift to resurface the skin. To complete the look one might include Botox® to relax the muscles, which diminishes wrinkles and fine lines. These combined treatments will result in a more open – eyed appearance and give the patient a more youthful, attractive look.
Skincare Around The Eyes
In our office we always advocate for patients to start the anti-aging process of the eye area with a good skin care line. We highly recommend that every patient invest in our excellent skin care lines to protect and rebuild the skin’s youthful appearance starting with a medical grade eye cream.
Brow Ultherapy®
Lifting the brows can really open the patient’s eyes making them appear more rested and approachable. Our Brow Ultherapy® is a non-surgical ultrasound treatment that targets the deeper layers of the skin and simulates new collagen growth, improving the overall tone and tightness of the skin.
Thermi® Eyes
Thermi®Eyes and Thermi®Eye Plus is a popular treatment with our patients and targets the area around the eyes and brow using radiofrequency heat. Patients say this treatment feels like a “warm stone massage”. This therapy is noninvasive and is typically done in a sequence of 4-5 sessions. The focus is to address the crêpey skin around the eyes gradually over a few months time. Dr. Burgess particular loves the look of this treatment when layered with one of our Neocutis firming eye creams.
Laser Treatments For Around The Eyes (Madonna Lift)
SmartSkin™ CO2 laser is a customizable micro-ablative skin resurfacing treatment. The Madonna Lift uses SmartSkin™ gently just around the eyes in a series of three treatments. This is used to help create smoother, more even skin tones and address fine lines and crêpiness of the eyelids. Patients can expect minimal downtime.
Botox®
Botox® is a noninvasive, FDA approved option that addresses frown lines and crow’s feet. It is used to temporarily relax the muscles and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Botox® is one of our most popular treatments due to the natural, undetectable results. It can elevate the brows and give a more opened eyed appearance. Fillers
For patients that struggle with natural depletion of the fullness under the eyes and feel “they always look tired” our hyaluronic acid fillers are a great option. Applying filler to the under eye area provides patients with youthful fullness to the area instead of a hollowed out appearance.
Blepharoplasty (Eyelid surgery)
For those Individuals still struggling with drooping eyelids that have tried multiple creams and non-surgical tightening procedures or those who just want a more permanent result, blepharoplasty (upper and lower eyelid surgery) could be the answer you’re looking for! Blepharoplasty is a surgical option that removes excess skin of the upper eyelid and sometimes small amounts of excess fatty tissue of the lower eyelid. This will require downtime with an average of two weeks of healing and recovery time.
Layering around the eye with multiple procedures can give the best, most opened eyed appearance. Ready for younger looking eyes? Contact the office of Portland’s board certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Elisa Burgess at Burgess Plastic Surgery.
