How Long Does It Take to Recover From Breast Augmentation?

breastaugmentationrecovery Breast augmentation can enhance your breasts’ appearance and improve your confidence. Before you decide whether or not breast augmentation is the right fit for you, it is essential to understand what the recovery process entails. Downtime is an important consideration in the recovery process in order to have the best result. This will help you determine if getting a breast augmentation is right for you and help you make any necessary arrangements to support your recovery.

What Does the Procedure Entail?

A breast augmentation procedure is performed while you are under anesthesia by making small incisions under the breasts and inserting implants into a pocket under the breast tissue created by the surgeon by lifting the muscle, breast tissue, and skin.

The two most common types of implants that are used for breast augmentation are silicone implants and saline implants. Your surgeon will discuss with you the advantages and disadvantages of each implant option so that you can decide which type of implant is the right choice for you.

What Is the Recovery Process Like?

Breast augmentation is an outpatient procedure performed in a surgery center or hospital. Typically, you will need to undergo general anesthesia for the procedure. Patients go home the same day after surgery. It is best to prepare to have either a friend or family member accompany you on the day of your procedure so that they can drive you back home safely.

During the first 1-2 weeks following your surgery, we provide a specialized compression bra to help your body recover. The surgeon and staff will give you unique instructions according to the extent of your procedure.

It’s imperative to avoid strenuous activities for at least six weeks following your surgery. This time will give your surgical site and body time to heal fully. You should also avoid traveling long distances for at least a month following your procedure.

Follow-up appointments with your doctor will ensure you are healing properly and address any questions you have about recovery.
